Robert Luukko, President, Co-Owner
I founded Kidd-Luukko Corporation with Sean Kidd in 2002. My responsibilities range from overseeing each department within the company. This includes advertising, direct sales, marketing, estimating, ordering, human resources, financial management, scheduling and problem solving.
What I enjoy most about the job is working with my people. I have assembled a group of highly-qualified individuals which I am proud to employ every day.
I have always lived in a small town in central Massachusetts where I am surrounded by life-long friends as well as family. While the winters may be difficult, I can’t imagine wanting to live anywhere else.
Justin Hardy, Chief Estimator
I have been working at Kidd-Luukko since the fall of 2009. I oversee all commercial estimating; from lead selection and distribution to our staff of estimators, to reviewing take-offs and proposals. I have a degree in architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology and worked at a local architectural and construction management firm that fell victim to the recession. After having worked with K-LC at that firm previously, I reached out to Bob and Sean when I saw they had the need for an estimator.
Math has always been a strong suit of mine, so I enjoy the process of arriving at a cost for a given roof and seeing the job through the progression and then checking to make sure the estimate was accurate. My background helps me to read an interpret plans and specifications. I haven’t lived anywhere else. I grew up in a suburb of Worcester, and now reside in a small town in the western part of the county. Nearly all of my family ties are in the Worcester area.
Jessica Gilbert, Office Manager and Book-Keeping
I became a member of the KL-C family in April of 2015. I was looking for a change of people and atmosphere and was lucky enough to answer an add for their job posting. Some of my main responsibilities include overseeing all Financial aspects of the company while working alongside one of the owners Bob. I manage the office and its daily needs. Maintain contact with our customers. Make sure the employees are taken care of on a Human Resource/Payroll aspect. Assist in the hiring process. I work with the Field Managers to schedule any Commercial Repairs. Work with and assist Bob & Sean with their scheduling needs and any special projects.
I very much enjoy the people I work with and for. Bob & Sean run a very fair and customer satisfaction driven business. Things are done a little differently than most companies and it works great for them. My co-workers are all great people that I enjoy being around in & outside of the office. I love the busyness of my job. I like the ever-changing daily items & the opportunity to learn new things and have people patient enough to teach & help me understand them. I enjoy the satisfaction of being able to excel at what I do & know that it is a direct benefit to the company itself in the big picture. Everyone here always makes you feel welcomed and part of the team.
I started out in the Customer Service industry in High School & fell into Finance by accident while helping someone out. I enjoyed the challenge and working with numbers, making things “work” and working with different levels of management. I have been in the Financial industry ever since. I love what I do. I have lived here most of my life and I enjoy the change of seasons, the way the communities know how to come together in times of need. The pride that we have as New Englanders and the amazing history that we have here. It is very rich in culture and diversity. Worcester County has so many hidden spots that contain such beauty. I love being outdoors and hiking/climbing. There is no shortage of new places to find and enjoy with my family.
Joe Dalrymple, Lead Technician
I have been with Kidd-Luukko Corporation for about a year. My job is to ensure the projects are moving forward on time and performed in a professional manner. I ensure all buildings are water-tight throughout and at the end of each project.
I enjoy the pace of the job. I like to stay busy and feel productive. I have always been a hands on, motivated and productive worker. This industry lets me put that to good use. I enjoy the Worcester weather, especially the winters.
Chad McDermott, Estimator
I am a new member to the Kidd-Luukko family.
The main responsibilities I have are project management, estimating, and roofing sales. For example making sure all material are on site, calling on dumpsters and calling them off site meeting with General Contractors, Home Owners or Project managers to evaluate the job at hand. Making sure the crews are arriving at proper locations and on time. Keeping projects running efficiently and in a timely fashion. Estimating roofing jobs through the use of basic math skills, tools and software. Calling leads, follow up calls with repair jobs that need to be done. Closing on all leads. Self-generating roofing sales using the Kidd-Luukko Corporation sales methods and business model. Canvassing areas where roofing jobs are being worked on. Keeping a record of all calls leads and work being done. Closing out all jobs when completed. Follow up calls with clients and the utilization of Geo Juice making sure our clients are receiving the service they asked for.
I enjoy always being busy and on the go learning new methods and processes. Working independently within a team environment. Helping our clients get the protection they want for their homes and business’s. I have a background in construction. I also have many years of experience in business, sales and Management. I wanted to utilize my skill set to help grow and maintain the roofing industry. I am from a multigenerational family that has grown and prospered in Worcester county. I love the people, the season, the rolling hills and the pride we all have for our beloved Worcester county.
Kyle Flynn, Project Manager
My start date at Kidd-Luukko was June 15 2017. The main responsibilities of my job are but not limited to, showing up every day as well as being on time. Paying attention to, understanding, and completing whatever task is asked of me by my superiors. Showing exemplary work ethic, speed and dedication while completing tasks. Helping keep material cost and time cost/labor cost to a minimum is a main responsibility. A few ways to reduce material cost is by employing more efficient ways to use materials and doing things correct the first time. Consolidating time spent on projects helps reduce time/labor cost. Above all else safety is a main responsibility. Conducting myself in a safe manner and in accordance with regulations and laws set forth by OSHA.
I enjoy working for Kidd-Luukko because it provides an opportunity to learn. I enjoy working during daylight rather than at night time and also being outside is a healthy change. I find that problem solving and using my brain makes my duties more interesting, instead of boring monotonous work. I very much like the fact that hard work is noticed and rewarded.
When I was 18 years old I moved out to Pennsylvania with a good friend and stayed with him and his father for the summer. We roofed all summer doing metal interlocking shingles on residential roofs. I thought it was fun and fairly easy as well as profitable.
Being an American citizen has made me a proud individual but being a New Englander is even better. This is the birthplace of our great nation, the revolutionary war was fought in the backyard of our ancestors. I take great pride in knowing and understanding the reasons, events and people that contributed to the shaping of this nation. However, there is not much to like about being a Worcesterite other than the conveniences offered by living in the city of Worcester.
